Paul---a few decent players gives you a good platform to start from with CCFC in FIFA10, but with the starting squad it's a pretty thankless task. I've been really enjoying it though---still not got back to it properly since PES2010 arrived and I really miss it.

Grilled Seabass---that's the online game that I dislike so much. I really, really dislike it. It might just as well be a separate game. I don't see it as part of the PES-FIFA continuum that I play in. 'Competitive controller-squeezing' is more what it's like online.

I think the golden days of people playing the beautiful game online, for the most part, are gone. 99% of players do the always-sprinting thing in possession, and they do the Claw thing when chasing the ball.

I don't see myself ever playing online again. I've played my statutory 5 or 6 matches of each game online. Like you I was finishing each game with possession stats in the 60%+ range. The amusing thing is that from the other guy's pojnt of view, you're the one who's a noob to be doing that when the 'way to play' football online has been clearly established: Run-and-gun, direct, fast, and always---always---maximum double-pressure without the ball.

They're more than welcome to their online game of controller-strangling. I wish them well but I want no part of it.

The real game for me has always been single-player offline, so I'm not disappointed about the state of online play, but I know it's a frequent gripe for those old-schoolers who do want to play online.

Its a classic Formation Not-Greg i tend to have most success with it so try and buy players that fit that formation.
As for my FIFA MM career ... soo irritating!! i just seem to have gone into a rut, have 60% posession but create little of worth and rarely score.
Cov's players arent the best but ive signed Cabrera, a decent LM and Pinto, a good CM, both in their upper 60's OVR, and have myself as my virtual pro playing upfront, myrating is 72, so have a few decent players.
I just always find that when i have the ball in midfield, when i initiate players runs, or leave it to the cu, i rarely create decent space to play balls into, it always gets congested and my play is forced, leading to me rendering posession easily.

jamie---PES offers us the option to map up to 4 alternate formations to face buttons if we want. I always have two, one very attacking, one very defensive. I use them so rarely that it might be worth programming silghtly tweaked 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formations for differing situations. If I do that now it'll be on the blog in Monday's post. Something's got to change my fortunes...

Paul---re. the formation, that's the classic diamond 4-4-2 that I use a lot in Champ Man/FM games. It's a classic 4-3-3 for me in PES I'm afraid, as today's post (Friday) will go into. It's a flaw for me in PES, this need to always play with one (very unrealistic) formation. Back in PES4 I played an entire ML career with a weird 4-2-2-2 formation and had some success, but other than that it's been 99% 4-3-3.

Re. your FIFA10 MM career with CCFC... they're rubbish aren't they? It's the players costing you all those results.
