heraldo - Get in! I knew six weeks ago when I put the money on Spain that I was getting good odds (8/1) for a team with undoubted talent and ability. I fancied them to do it this year and they did. Enjoy my winnings I shall....

Re. FIFA and/or PES and/or football computer games in general and the whole vexed issue of running straight from kickoff... This very matter was one of the main things that started to seriously turn me off the PS3 version of PES2008 back at the turn of the year. I had Elcherino in my ML team and I could score with him from every kickoff without even trying. Ugh.

What I love about FIFA08 is that it's so tough to dribble by comparison to its next-gen PES counterpart. The goal posted above was a true rarity. Even if I get past the first midfielder and let off a shot, it's hardly ever on target, much less a goal. I hardly ever even try the run any more. This was a true rarity for me.

Greg

Regarding your goal, you've had this discussion on here with posters about varying styles of game-play.

I have never tried going forward from kick off, I always pass to my midfielder and play possession from kick off. I do this is PES too, my choice of style, I probably try to play games too much like real football. That's why PES 2008 on PS3 lasted me as long as it did, as I took out the fast game-play with slow possession football.

I can relate to long range shooting in FIFA, it is sweet when they go in. As you know I don't score many goals (the way I like my football games) but win the majority of my matches on professional. In my 2nd season in MM, I would say that 60-70% of my goals are from long range, I have a feel for shots from range now, using normal and finesse shooting. They do look good on FIFA.

I am thinking of stepping up to WC, as I have a healthy lead in league. If it's a struggle, I can always come down, to complete your challenge.

I must say, I've played my 1st European games, I have noticed a jump in class, in terms of possession with CPU teams and they take their chance clinically.

Best of luck on WC, I know how difficult it will be.
