Greg you could well be on to something. Not being able to improve your team with new signings and no player development could well make PES2008 worthwhile again. Now this could be done in the ML (by turning off player development) but for me that wouldn’t be right. Playing in League mode could well be a big step forward

ck – If PES was an MMOG, I’d take your hand off.

Hmmm… if someone somewhere isn’t working on some kind of football-related MMOG, I’d be very surprised. Yes, SI are working on Football Manager Live right now (should be out in April, they say), but that’s not the kind of thing I mean. Imagine being able to play Master League multiplayer!

I bet EA are working on it.

ck – I’ve got my own favourite Defaults. I dislike all of yours! There’s at least two of my favourites – Ruskin and Macco – who might well develop into quality players. I’ve never kept them long enough to find out before.

paww2k8 – Ive already played a few games under my House Rules (I like to get a few days ahead of the blog – less pressure on me that way, and I can take my time and write the posts the day before).

It really does feel like a different game. Time will tell.

Your transfer cap is an interesting idea. I might add that to the House Rules. It’s too late for me this time – I’ve already spent the money from Elcherino.

I still hate it that I have to do all this to get a playable challenging game, but so it goes.

For realisms sake keeping some original players is like what would happen when a new manager to comes to a team (even with shed loads of money) a part of the team stays the same.

Its what I’m doing with my championship side. I play my first mid-season as I would any other ML trading in and out players at wil so I have a squad I can call my own.

But from now onwards I can only bring in one player in mid-season and two off season (1 youth max). That way even 5 seasons on my team will still have a reasonable majority of its original squad.

I know its going to make it far more interesting. Even though I’m doing quite well at the moment (join 2nd in the league (1st season)) I won’t be blowing all my money. I’ll have to really think about what sort of player I want to bring in and then once I’ve done so that’ll be it.

I had a dabble with the league careers but because I wanted to play ML so badly I dropped them. Still good fun though.
