Cool, I'll try those tomorrow and get back to you.

I you haven't experienced the 2 player penalties slowdown, it's hard to even comprehend. It's like actually playing in slow motion, for every second of every penalty. Shocking.

Steve - the key settings for me were PS2 Upscaling OFF and Blu-Ray audio format to BITSTREAM. I tried almost all the others and they made no difference to the small amount of slowdown I still see. Sadly, it does affect my enjoyment of the game even now in certain stadia. Here's hoping for the PS3 patch to fully resolve matters.

Me and my mates are Pro Evo crazy (tho we still call it ISS....old habits die hard), and one of us went out and bought a ps3 so we could play it.

We play it on a top notch HDTV, and notice slowdown during replays, but couldn't really care less about it, we always flick by them to the self controlled replay.

Where we do have a problem though is if the game goes to penalties. The game slows down to a crawl when you have two players, one controlling the keeper and the other the player taking the kick.

It honestly makes the game feel entirely unplayable, absolutely ruins the game.

So now we just settle for draws. It stops us from developing bad feelings towards Pro Evo ( thoughts which to our minds verge on blasphemy).

I'll try switching off all the suggested features and report back on whether it remedies it or not.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I know from doing a lot of research on this over the past several days that plenty - perhaps most - PS3 gamers are not seeing any serious problems at all. Your story is a common one. Unfortunately, so is mine.

What does it all mean? The most likely explanation - just my theory - is that the game is in some way not optimised for some kinds of display outputs. Thus it could be a case of individual pot luck as to whether their PS3/TV setup will run the game well out of the box or not.

I'm not technically-minded so I have no more than a hunch to go on.

I'm coming to see that I am one of the lucky ones for whom the various fixes have not only helped a bit, but almost completely eliminated the problem. If you read across all the forums - PESfan, EvoWeb, PESGaming, etc. - you'll find lots of stories about people being unable to get the game running without serious framerate issues no matter what they do.

I also heard that PES2008 was created for PC first and then ported to the consoles. I think the PS3 was actually bottom of the list of Konami's priorities here, as is sadly the case with too many games developers.
